Completely different. Just 'lol'. A phone operating system on your desktop. What innovation...as usual from microsoft. This will be right up there with Windows ME. Grandma prefers Linux Mint.

@Jared: Most systems that are coming out today (and for the past two years for that matter) are 64-bit processors with 32-bit Windows OS. take a walk around the nearest electronic stores and you will see this is a fact. People who would be upgrading to Windows 8 most likely have had the money to purchase one of these newer systems. 80% may be running the x86 version of Windows but 80%-90% of computers that have come out over the past two years have the capability of running x64 versions. I personally have a laptop i bought cheap ($350) that came with a celeron processor running Windows 7 x64. The systems that won't be upgrading the OS to Windows 8 most likely need to be replaced by the time the OS comes out anyway.

hmm... Windows 8 eagerly weighting for it. Even if Windows 8 is the OS, still MS haters will find something to bitch about. Windows 7 has far been a kickass OS. Yeah, it has probs, but thats upon what you built the next version. I expect windows to be really good, seeing W7's success. And once more MS could trigger a revolution, if it brings all that Hyper-V and cloud stuff into the standard, i-want-my-job-done non-geek users

Gotta love the knee-jerk anti-MS crowd. Even if Windows 8 literally blows the doors off anything that's ever existed before, these clowns will still find something to bitch about.

windows 7 is perfect. it's so perfect that MS should actually wait 5 years this time until releasing their next OS. we've had XP available for a LONG time and now it's windows 7's turn. with all that time that passes between now and the next release, MS should really put all it's minds together and really surprise us with it's next release. windows 8 should be pushed back to 2014. we don't want another longhorn disaster.

lets face it, as good as ya might make nix os's sound, the general consumer wants out of the box support for everything with windows delivers... nobody wants to spend free time configuring their own code to get programs to work with a free OS...

Man, I can't believe how ignorant and stupid some people can be. You always find something to bitch about, even when MS releases the best OS they ever released AND that works fine on older crappy hardware. What do you idiots want??? In my book, a guy who is not satisfied with 7 and complains about things like copy, paste, prompts, bla bla, is a moron and should now be allowed to use even the vacuum cleaner. Microsoft has done a fantastic job with 7, and numbers and reviews speak for themselves. Businesses are upgrading to 7 much faster than they did to other version, THAT's how good 7 is. And I expect nothing less from 8, even if it won't be a major release. Stop with the stupid comments and thank them for allowing good performance on your Pentium 3 crap.
