Does Windows 7 have that issue where it stops talking to your broadband modem?

I upgraded to Vista about a year ago, and at the beginning of July is stopped talking to my dsl modem. For two months MS tech support and I fought with that thing, but we never got it talking to the modem again. XP connected to it fine, just not Vista. In the end I reverted fully back to XP. Being unable to connect to the net was just to big of a problem. Windows 7 is interesting, and I've got 5G of ram that XP is ignoring, but I'm not sure if I trust MS to know what they're doing after Vista.
