NDA’d Windows 7 Server Talk @ MS Redmond: June 5th, 2008
(Follow me on Twitter: msftkitchen)
Yes, you read that right: Windows 7 Server. I know it has been mentioned a time or two already and it’s a fairly safe assumption for there to be a Windows 7 Server in the grand scheme of Windows development but this is one of the rare mentions I’ve seen of “Windows 7 Server” anything straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak. It’s been awhile since my last Windows-related post but things have been busy in the life of good ol’ Steve-O. As has always been the caveat here, there will be times when it seems like I’ve abandoned this site but nothing could be further from the truth! With that being said, onward!
In addition to Microsoft’s potential mentioning of Windows 7 on May 27th, on June 5th, if you’re in Redmond, try to find your way to the Denali room in Building 20 on campus. If you can actually make it there (all attendees are subject to an NDA, so good luck getting in… lol), you can expect to be privy to talks of a Windows 7 Server technology labelled as “Business Scanning”. There isn’t a whole heck of a lot offered in the document I’m referencing this information from (thanks, Microsoft), but what we can gather is that “Business Scanning” will integrate with Windows Server Manager and make usage of protocols and Active Directory.
In addition to the few details mentioned above, the “Business Scanning” functional model, theory of operation and usage scenarios will be discussed. IHV’s can also expect to hear development requirements to help them show how MFP’s can interact with “Business Scanning”.
So, just what does all this mean? Your guess is as good as mine! lol. It could be something as simple as businesses scanning documentation and distributing it in Windows 7 Server since the other mention in this document I ran across is of another talk based on multi-function and Wi-Fi-connected printers in Windows 7, who knows. Regardless, the aforementioned is but one slice of the pie for the June 5th talks of Windows 7 for all of the lucky NDA’d participants! Think you can attend? Alrighty, folks. As always, more when I get a hold of it! =)
Giggity,
Stephen
